The foundation of gardening is stewardship, not yield. That’s some strong wording to start this page, I know, but I feel very strongly about it.

When we build a garden it is essential that we consider the nature and relationships between each of the garden’s components – we are building an ecosystem. What role are we playing in that ecosystem?
You’ll quickly find that the more imbalanced your view of that ecosystem is, the more demanding the labor to maintain the ecosystem becomes. So, if you find that you are working too hard, that you’re exhausted after working in the garden and you dread the “chore” of maintaining it, something in your approach is imbalanced.
There is no such thing as waste in gardening. It’s a self sustaining entity. We invite the animals from beyond the boarders of the garden to bring the elements that cannot be grown in the garden itself.
